This Cross is interesting for several reasons. First, Gates 51 and 57 drop out, replaced by 42 and 32. What results is unusual: these four gates form two complete channels — the format-energy channel 53-42 and the Channel of Transformation, 54-32 — making up all four arms of the Cross. The Cross of Beginnings gives us a logical Generator whose strength sits exactly where logic needs it. These people are most in demand in our logical reality, bringing life and energy to all kinds of new ventures — channeling format energy from the abstract process straight into the Channel of Transformation.

Earth in 54.4 is one of the most mystical of all the lines — the line of Enlightenment/Darkening, which resists tidy meaning. It carries a drive to be recognized by higher powers, earthly or spiritual, and because it's format energy, it kicks off a new cycle of transformation. It makes these people genuinely sought after, because they can actually get things done — starting a transformation and assessing two crucial things: what will it cost, and who needs to be hired to do the work. In other words, it governs recognizing the material value of people's labor — essential groundwork whenever you're building something new, and something the tribe itself depends on.

This channel also governs continuity itself. Nothing is more disruptive to Gate 32 than a broken continuity — the unbroken cycle of starting and finishing things is what creates real continuity in the first place.
