In short

When this cross shows up in the light
You know how to feel, vividly, what actually feeds your spirit — good food, real closeness, warmth — and you go after exactly that.
When this cross shows up in the shadow
Without good food and real intimacy your state can drop hard — spirit and body are wired very close together in you.

Full breakdown

Moving toward the interpersonal, we reach the Cross of Spirit — roughly: 'let me have sex with you, it makes me feel better — is that too blunt? Well, it's good for my spirit.' That's exactly what this cross is, says, and genuinely wants. And it wants good food too — 'let's go to a good restaurant, then make love.' Deprive someone with this cross of good food and real love, and they head toward wrecking their health and their mind, because these things matter that much to them.

Food is a dominant theme here because we're still early in the Initiation quarter, still dealing with the basic themes of sex, food, and the needs we have to meet to keep surviving. With the Sun in 55 and the conscious Earth in 59, the shaping of spirit comes directly from sexual strategy — Earth in 59 says 'I get my spirit from my sexual strategy.'

Interpersonally, at 59, we land on the line of seduction: 'let me seduce you, because if it works, my spirit will feel wonderful — it loves to seduce.' Someone with this cross has a very moody, dynamic inner life, and can fall into a real depression if these needs go unmet — food and sex issues, anorexia, bulimia, even a stalker-like fixation on someone unattainable. This isn't the individual's poetic unrequited love that says 'how beautiful, to love what I'll never have — I'll write a poem about it.' Here it's: 'it's unbearable that I love what I can't have — I'm going to go get it.'

At the sixth line, we edge toward mutation, always shipped with some built-in flaw — evolution's little joke. In the final configuration of this cross (Profile 6/3), the conscious placements sit in 59.6 and 55.6, right where mutation is meant to occur, while the unconscious Sun sits in 9.3 — the straw that breaks the camel's back, the overlooked detail that quietly guarantees failure. Nothing here comes easy or fair. We never quite know what the incoming generation will be missing, but something always is — and it's very likely to be exactly the straw that breaks things. The coming Solar Plexus mutation, once emotionally aware beings can finally share their awareness directly, will change all of this — but we don't yet know what shape that takes.
