This is a fascinating Juxtaposition. Here 21/48 shifts to 17/18. Gate 21 needs to control everything; Gate 48 is depth. Where Gate 18 sought solutions, that shifts here directly to Gate 48, where the unconscious Earth sits — now there's the possibility of a solution, an entirely different phase. For someone with the Cross of Stillness, solutions lie under the surface, capable of taking real control once they surface.

With Juxtaposition comes the 4th line, a classic case of opportunism. Remember the 4th line's mantra: if you have a lover, don't leave until you've found another; if you have a job, don't quit until you've got the next one lined up, or you'll end up with a useless lover and no decent job in sight. The whole secret of the 4th line is waiting for the right opportunity — which is why people with the Cross of Stillness carry real influence once others come to them asking for a solution.

The collective always runs into trouble here, because it doesn't understand its own nature — turning a collective process into something personal always leads to problems. Gates 18/58 can see what's wrong without that meaning it necessarily needs fixing, or that there's a solution, or that it even matters. But 18/58 are genuinely valuable the moment someone approaches and asks, 'can you help me? Can you tell me what's wrong?' — then they shine, instead of being seen as an irritation.

People with the Cross of Stillness are essentially forced to sit quietly until they're called on — which can be deeply frustrating, especially for Generators or Projectors, who'd love nothing more than to just say it. But they can't, because they're bound by their Cross. Someone with this Cross can sit all day, biting their tongue, until somebody finally asks 'did something happen?' — and then it all comes out: 'Yes! Yes it did, you idiot!' They need to wait passively for the right moment, and then — everything happens at once.
