The second variation moves the Sun to gate 2, the Receptive — the Driver, the gate that sets direction for all three of the Sphinx's other perspectives. Where gate 13 looks backward, gate 2 opens outward: someone with this Sun is far more receptive to every possible direction, and to more ways of describing and perceiving things, than the other versions of this cross.

This can be confusing to be around — even knowing the direction clearly, this Sun often can't quite put it into precise words. Ask them what to do, and the most concrete thing they can offer is simply "go there," without much more detail than that. But this is also where real beauty enters the cross: rather than closing down to one path, gate 2 opens every direction at once, leaving it to each of us to decide whether we build something beautiful with what we're given, or something careless.
