The Right Angle Cross of the Sphinx (Version 4)

The fourth variation puts the Sun in gate 1, the Creative — deep in its own reflection, not looking through a windshield like gate 7 or in a rearview mirror like gate 13, but simply present, unfocused, absorbed entirely in its own moment.

Full breakdown

The fourth variation puts the Sun in gate 1, the Creative — deep in its own reflection, not looking through a windshield like gate 7 or in a rearview mirror like gate 13, but simply present, unfocused, absorbed entirely in its own moment. Nothing is more purely, unapologetically self-centered than gate 1, because the only thing it's actually interested in is its own navel — its own individual expression.

This Sphinx doesn't share direction the way the collective versions do. It doesn't say "come to me, I'll tell you where you've been" or "come to me, I'll tell you where to go." It says, in effect, "get out of my way — I don't care where you're headed, I know where I'm going." And yet, oddly, this is exactly the Sphinx worth following in a crisis: if your plane went down in the jungle and someone with this Sun got up and started walking, you'd do well to follow them, because they won't wait for you and won't slow down, but if you can keep pace, you'll survive. Their direction doesn't announce itself or ask for attention — you simply have to see it to understand it.
