The hexagram is called Revolution, and we're entering the emotional system. Remember, every gate of the emotional system resonates with a corresponding emotional wave. 19/49 — the channel of Synthesis, the design of Sensitivity; a tribal, mystical channel. It has to do with resources and touch, the sense of touch. Hexagram 49 is the gate of Principles. This is where the principles of accumulating, preserving, and distributing resources get established. Who contributes what, and who receives what. Gate 49 establishes what's to be obeyed. That's its nature. It's the gate of principles, and its potential is an awareness of what's needed — an awareness of needs and requirements. Please understand there's no awareness here yet. What's needed, what's required, is a principle that operates on a wave. When you're at the bottom of the wave, you don't need what you'd usually need quite as much — or maybe the opposite, you need it even more. And when you're at the top of the wave, suddenly you need something you didn't before, or, the other way around, you stop needing it. That's dictated by the very nature of the wave.

All our revolutions, all our principles, have been ignorantly conditioned by the nature of this wave. The potential of awareness lies in the distribution of food. All of this gets dictated from the position of gate 49, which establishes what food should be available, when it can be available, and how it can be obtained. All of this concerns the organizing of tribal resources. Since gate 49 is an emotional gate, it determines, from wherever it sits on its own wave, which resources go where and for what. Access to food isn't guaranteed, because it's a very long road to the Throat. Revolutions are promises. Often principles are nothing more than empty money bags that somebody already dragged off somewhere. This is the gate of the One Who Sacrifices, and the One Who Is Sacrificed. The gate of the butcher.
