Fully in the left angle now, the second variation of Migration. In the first quarter, Migration was tied closely to our aggressive tendencies, the built-in need to keep expanding, moving from valley to valley, conquering, taking over — that was gate 37's side of it. With the Sun now in 40, we see the other side: many ghettos in early-Nazi Eastern Europe refused to migrate even when migration was the only viable option. This isn't migration-as-conquest — it's migration to survive, not to run away and not to seize.

There are two ways tribes and cultures migrate: those who conquer, and those who flee to save themselves. This side of the cross belongs to those who migrate only when forced to — otherwise they refuse: 'no, they won't take our property. No, they won't take our homes. No, they won't take our lives.' Of course, wait too long and you don't migrate at all — except in boxcars.

Both paths matter enormously to how people actually behave; neither is better or worse. What matters is understanding that the higher forces never let us stay still — we're not permitted to sit idle. In America, roughly thirty to forty percent of the population relocates every two years — people simply can't stay put, like ants rushing somewhere. Think of the great postwar migration south and west, driven partly by fear rather than conquest — moving away from what people were afraid of, rather than toward something they wanted to take. It's not morality that produces this pattern; it's built into us, migration as flight just as much as migration as conquest.
