Gate 37 — The Family — The manifestation, on both a macrocosmic and microcosmic level, of the organic nature of communities

We've entered the tribal process. Turning to hexagram 37, the Family, we're looking at the Channel of Community — the deeply social, warm, and friendly design of the part that seeks the whole. This is the sensitivity stream; it's connected to touch, to the sense of physical contact. Gate 37 is the gate of friendship and family, the gate of closeness and attachment, the gate of touch and embrace — naturally, at a certain price, because there's always a transaction present within the tribe. This is where people show up who either can or cannot provide what's needed. This energy runs on a wave. It carries the potential to recognize who will provide what's needed and who won't — which is exactly why I said there's always a price attached here. Gate 37 needs Ego strength and is always reaching for it. The potential awareness here arrives through the sense of touch and through the mouth. I have gate 40. In my own life I've met plenty of 37s. They loved hugging and kissing me. That's just their nature. Gate 40 is the stomach, and at the other end of the channel sits the mouth. The mouth is always saying, "Your stomach is already full — now fill mine." The underlying relationship between gate 37 and gate 40 is built on resources, and it has to be, because the whole stream deals in resources.
