In the fourth variation, the Sun sits in gate 10, Behavior — the neck of the vessel, the part that shapes how the love flowing through actually gets expressed once it reaches the world. Gate 10 is fundamentally about self-love, but self-love that has to be lived and tested through behavior, through survival, before it becomes real. People with this Sun often find that self-love isn't handed to them; it's earned through getting through things, and only afterward does it become something they can actually stand in.

This is also, practically, one of the places where direction of love gets rewritten. Working with clients who are gay, for instance, you see this cross's real gift: it takes the inherited, default direction love is "supposed" to flow in and lets a person redefine it according to their own nature, rather than according to what they were told. That redefinition, arrived at honestly through the body's own behavior, is itself an act of self-love.
