As far as our work with Human Design goes, keep in mind that it's a logical system, and as such it gives people an education that lets them understand the basic mechanics of their own nature. The true nature of love in our world has nothing to do with hugs and kisses, pleasant as they are. It shows up in people getting knowledge of themselves as early in life as possible. Without that kind of education, human beings have no way of understanding that they aren't some pitiful mistake. What they are doesn't need improving, fixing, or perfecting, because each of them is exactly what they're supposed to be — an aspect of the totality, an aspect of the great diversity of the world.

We get the nature of love wrong. We assume love is born into the world because we love each other. It's funny, because that has nothing to do with love's real substance. You can love your guru, your friend, or your dog — none of that is it. Love is unity with the creative process, full and unconditional acceptance of yourself exactly as you are, and the ability to see your own beauty in that surrender. Only by surrendering to your own beauty, the genuine beauty of your own being, can you bring love into the aura of the world. There's no other way. It doesn't matter how kind and lovely you are, how much love lives inside you, how much love you'd like to give the world — none of that changes the planet's aura. Only human beings who are actually living out their nature are capable of changing the planetary aura. That's the core task of Human Design — for people to live their nature without moral judgment, without conditioning, and to see clearly what it actually means to simply be themselves. That's where love in the world comes from. We won't see it in our lifetime.

We've already noted that love for humanity is, at its core, a quality of the collective aura — that's precisely where love for people can show up. When we move into gate 46, we move toward the body, toward our own flesh, and we enter each person's private domain. In other words, this is no longer the universal aura but the physical body of humanity, our vehicle. The spiritual nature of the body reveals itself if the body is treated as a temple, if being in the flesh, living in the body, is experienced as something sacred.

Over the lines it speaks of luck that's perceived as the result of a fortunate coincidence — being in the right place at the right time — but that actually flows from devotion and effort applied. Sustaining life in the body, meaning taking care of its physical beauty and grace, its nourishment and comfort, is a difficult trial. We all know this. It takes effort and devotion. Devoting yourself to the body means devoting yourself to Being. This is the abstract stream for gathering experience along life's path. It's the path of loving humanity.

In the Channel of Love, the collective gates sit directly opposite the individual ones — a peculiar feature of its structure. In a certain sense that structure is deeply individual, deeply personal, because channel 46/29 brings its own particular quality here: life experience is the point of assembly — experience is the main focus of our life. In other words, when you enter into experience and surrender to living life through channel 46/29, you surrender to it completely and blindly — you literally fall into experience the way you'd fall into an abyss. And only once the fall stops, once you land at the very bottom of that abyss, do you get the chance to reflect on and think through what happened, and gain something from that experience.

Gate 46 is, by its very nature, exclusively existential. It insists that it's the experience itself, the process, that brings luck — the experience itself doesn't have to be a lucky one. Very few people can understand this. If you're waiting for something to come into your life, nothing will come. If you're living — literally, if you're present, if you're actually there in your own life — anything is possible. This is what it means to be in the body and to accept your life.
