Genuine leadership, for you, is service. Understanding someone else and helping them find their place isn't about controlling them, it's for their own good. When it works, people listen to you not because you've been appointed leader, but because you truly understand them.
The risk is when understanding people turns into manipulation, when you use your insight into their motives to steer them somewhere convenient for you instead. That builds trust at first, and quietly destroys it later. Real management serves people rather than using them.
