Full breakdown

We started with the Sphinx Cross — what happened yesterday, what happened last month, holding a direction shaped by your own past. Then came the fixed aspect: same input, same field of empathy, but already very different, no longer carrying quite the same personal sense of destiny. Crossing into the left angle brings us into the field of interpersonal karma: a physically structured, programmed obligation to connect with other people and pass along information.

Here that begins at 13.5, the Savior, and 7.5, the General — an odd Savior-General who leaks its mutation. It hides behind a facade, an outer costume, with no morality attached to the choice; there simply isn't one.

These people live by wearing and switching masks — they need them, because they exist under constant pressure from people they're karmically bound to supply with something: direction. Masks still carries gates 13 and 7, still a carrier of collective direction from the G Center as part of its cross. Especially with the fifth line involved, there's a powerful field of projection: others say, 'listen, we're counting on you to point the way.' This isn't the right angle giving directions in a supermarket — the left angle first has to understand what others expect and what they can actually draw from this person.

With Masks, you find yourself needing initials after your name stitched onto a jacket; if you read tarot, you dress the part of a seventeenth-century mannequin. Whatever the costume — psychological or literal — it conceals identity, and once it's on, these people are ready to play their role.

Worth remembering: these crosses all carry individuality, and the whole quarter begins in melancholy — otherwise music itself would give no pleasure. Melancholy is the muse. The mind begins its work in sadness, worried that the sadness will never amount to anything, and from exactly that comes all our mental-plane achievement. All these crosses are steeped in melancholy — biochemistry that people misread as something personal, something wrong with them, when really it's simply the nature of an individual channel. Don't invent a reason for your melancholy; doing so kills the muse and replaces it with depression instead.

Everything begins in love, because individuality itself rests on love — the search for a perfect, cosmic love, self-love, and union with others through love and romance. That's the very beginning: the right angle's 13 asking, 'have I had love in my life? Will I get some?' Juxtaposition just listens for it — those who listen to the sounds of love at night with no one there but a stuffed bear, yet the love songs on the radio are still wonderful.

Then, finally, the left angle says: 'I'll put on a mask and tell you exactly what you need to know, because if I don't, I won't survive this life — but what I tell you will be shaped by my own sadness.'

It's one thing to describe how these crosses mechanically work, and another to admit that people carrying this energy, unawakened, damage their own lives living a false self, unaware of what's really happening and unable to tune into their own process. That's the real crisis on this planet — almost no one knows their purpose, and living a false self will never get you there. Early on, in the Initiation quarter especially, many of these people sink into a deep depression, looking backward at what they don't like without knowing why they even see it, and growing genuinely pessimistic about everything.
