A magnificent joke. If you look at the gloss over the lines of hexagram 64, it says: transition, like birth, requires decisive force to come to pass. That points us to the channel of decisiveness, and, from there, to the logical format. Decisiveness is needed to find the path and walk it through. There's a logical aspect in this description, one the collective, in its duality, is always drawn toward. If you're an abstract being, logic can be very attractive to you, and if you're a logical being, the abstract can be very attractive to you. If you turn to hexagram 63 and look at the gloss over the lines, it says that in the spiral of life, every ending is a beginning. It's describing the abstract format. In other words, everything in here is a little bit twisted around. Those of you who took part in working through the lines of the Throat center may remember that by the time the abstract stream reaches manifestation, it wants to be logical, while logic, once it reaches the point of manifestation, wants to be abstract.

Hexagram 63 is the gate of Doubt, where the pressure of doubtful patterns is held — or not, meaning the pressure of patterns that don't raise suspicion. That's the whole point. While the abstract tries to make sense of what it's experiencing in the present, basing itself on a sequence of images drawn from the past, logic tries to project into the future whatever it's experimenting with in the present. It tries to project patterns forward, or project out of a pattern. If a pattern doesn't project forward into the future, then doubt and suspicion appear. The mechanics work like this: mental patterns focused on the future — that's the question itself. As a source of inspiration, this gate is always asking questions and searching for answers. If you can ask the question, you'll get the answer. For a collective being, there's nothing new under the sun. Questions are deeply inspiring. The best questions anyone has ever asked me in my life came from gate 63. The best questions I've ever put to myself over my whole life took shape thanks to a transit of gate 63, in particular when the Sun and Mercury activated this gate together.
