An important feature here: you need encouragement in order to open up. Not because you're weak, but because you can't always see your own talent from inside it. When someone sees you and says "you're good at this," you start to flourish.
Let people do that for you. Don't push away recognition. When you're supported, your mastery shows up in full. Skepticism toward compliments is a defense, not wisdom.
